Oxblood walls.
Deep red walls, the color of a library or a dining room at night. Gilt, ivory paper and strong black lines read well against them; pale, washed color can disappear.
Hang fewer, larger pieces on a dark red wall, and give each one a wide mat so the paper tone frames the image.
